Logan Wedding<\/p>\n

A quiet wedding was solemnised by the Rev. Father Enright at St. Stephen’s Cathedral on 5th June, the contracting parties being Kathleen, the fourth surviving daughter of Mr. Patrick Egan, Upper. Logan, and Mr. Andrew Flanagan, of Bigriggen, also
\nUpper Logan, second son to the late Mr. Anthony Flanagan.<\/p>\n

The bride was daintily attired in a cream voile skirt, with gathered ribbon and an ivory silk bodice, with a cross over, and fichu trimmed with kilted chiffon frills, and a tucked chiffon yoke, also wreath and veil, and was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. J. Bennett.<\/p>\n

The wedding breakfast was served at Rowes Cafe, only the relations of the bride and bridegroom being present. The presents were numerous and useful, including several cheques. Tho happy couple left by the mail train for Ipswich, going to their future home via Boonah.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

On the evening of Monday, 27th ult., word was received in Beaudesert of the death of Mr. Andrew Flanagan, of Bigriggan. During the afternoon, as Mr. Flanagan was about to unload a waggon, he fell from the top of the load to the ground. His brother-in-law, Mr. Les. Egan, ran to his assistance, but he was not able to speak. He died a few minutes after the fall.<\/p>\n

Dr. Beet, of Beaudesert, found by a post-mortem examination, that in falling Mr. Flanagan had fractured his spine. The news of the sad accident travelled quickly, and those who heard it could speak of nothing else.<\/p>\n

Mr. Andrew Flanagan was a native of the Logan. His father, the late Mr. Anthony Flanagan, came to Queensland under Dr. Quinn’s immigration scheme, and after an exemplary life, left a name that will live long in the district. All the Catholics of Beaudesert district are said to be staunch in their Faith, but none could be more staunch than those who came under the influence, and instruction of Anthony Flanagan, and the late An-drew Flanagan was foremost amongst these.<\/p>\n

He was a man for whom everyone who knew him had the deepest affection, and on all sides one heard it said that men like ”Andy” Flanagan are not easily found. In his life he presented the ideal of an earnest Christian husband and father, and his straightforward honesty and charitableness made him the friend of all. When anyone came in for criticism Mr. Flanagan’s usual advice to the critics was to ”give the fellow a chance.”<\/p>\n

As the home of the late Mr. Flanagan, situated about 30 miles south of Beaudesert, is one of the stations of Beaudesert parish, Mass was held there on the morning of the funeral. About thirty people received Holy Communion, and this, together with the evident emotion of his men friends, was a sign of the esteem in which he was held. The same thing was shown by the large gathering that assisted at the burial of the deceased in the cemetery behind the Church at Palen Creek.<\/p>\n

The deceased leaves a wife, four young daughters, and an infant son, who bears the name which, because of his father, will be long respected by the people of Beaudesert district. R.I.P.<\/p>\n
