Membership

Becoming a member of TOCAH means helping preserve and share the rich stories, history, and heritage of country Australia. Whether you’re researching your roots, contributing your own memories, or supporting our work behind the scenes, membership connects you with a community that values the past and works together to keep it alive for future generations.

Becoming a member of Treasury of Country Australian History Inc (TOCAH) is about more than belonging — it’s about access, contribution, and connection to a growing national story.

Access to a growing national collection

Members receive privileged access to TOCAH’s expanding collection of regional, rural and remote Australian history, including:

  • Recorded oral histories and interviews

  • Personal and family stories from across country Australia

  • Photographs, documents, and historical records

  • Research relating to rural industries, communities, and ways of life

As the collection grows, so does the value of membership.

Early access to new content

Members are among the first to:

  • View newly published stories and interviews

  • Access new podcast episodes and archival material

  • Receive updates on major additions to the TOCAH Collection

This ensures members stay closely connected to the ongoing work of preserving Australia’s country history.

Opportunity to share your story

Members may apply to have their own stories — or those of their families and communities — recorded and preserved for posterity. This includes:

  • Oral history interviews

  • Written submissions

  • Photographs and personal records

Your lived experience becomes part of Australia’s shared historical record.

Opportunities to get involved

Membership opens the door to active participation in TOCAH’s work, including:

  • Assisting with story collection and interviews

  • Participating in historical research

  • Contributing skills in writing, archiving, technology, or community engagement

  • Supporting outreach across regional, rural and remote communities

Members choose how involved they wish to be — from quiet supporters to hands-on contributors.

Regular updates and communications

Members receive updates on:

  • TOCAH projects and milestones

  • Newly recorded stories and features

  • Opportunities to contribute, collaborate, or participate

  • Events, initiatives, and future plans

These communications keep members connected to both the people and the progress behind the organisation.

Supporting a lasting legacy

Perhaps the most meaningful benefit of all: knowing your membership directly supports the preservation of stories that might otherwise be lost.

By becoming a member, you help ensure that the resilience, ingenuity, and everyday lives of country Australians are recognised, respected, and remembered — now and into the future.

TOCAH membership is not transactional. It is participatory, purposeful, and enduring.
